Why we gather

Duncan’s Story

Warrior spirit, peace signs up

Guitar in hand since age 7

Duncan is 15 years old and has been playing guitar since he was just 7. Music runs deep for him — he plays with the worship team at Community Christian Church in Yorkville, and he’s also graced other stages, where his talent leaves an impression on everyone who hears him play.

On August 10, 2026, Duncan was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Since then, his life and his family’s has been consumed by hospital stays, treatment plans, and the uncertainty that comes with a diagnosis like this.

Let’s show Duncan and his family they are NOT alone.

With gratitude

Our Hosts

Baxtoberfest is possible because Adam and Shannon Baxa open their home and their hearts to this community every year.

Year after year they welcome neighbors onto Audrey Avenue for music, food, friendship, and the kind of giving that makes Yorkville feel like home. That tradition of hospitality and community care is why so many of us keep coming back — and why this year’s gathering means even more.

This October 3, the Baxas are once again hosting so we can stand with Duncan and his family. We’re deeply grateful for their generosity, their yard full of friends, and everything they do quietly and positively for people around them.

Thank you, Adam and Shannon — from all of us.

Silent Auction

A Baxtoberfest tradition: donate gift baskets, local services, and sports memorabilia — then guests stroll the Baxa tent and write their bids as they go.

  1. Donate a basket, service certificate, sports item, or experience.
  2. Display in the Baxa tent with a simple bid sheet.
  3. Walk & bid — guests write offers as they browse; no phones required.
  4. Help Duncan’s family — proceeds support medical and family needs.

Raffle baskets are still part of the fun too. Got something to give? We’d love to include it.
